OT Not Kind To Rangers In Traverse City

OT Not Kind To Rangers In Traverse City

Sitting at home following the Rangers – Hurricanes Traverse City game last night, I was taken back to earlier in the year. The tweets kept saying how great Brandon Halverson was playing in net. And how much the Rangers were getting outshot because they had no offense. The Hurricanes scored, the Rangers somehow tied it. That happened again and once again the team went to overtime. And lost.

I had…

Rangers Bounce Back With Overtime Win

Rangers Bounce Back With Overtime Win

Apparently the baby Rangers like playing more than 60 minutes as for the second night in a row the extra session was needed. Hopefully the actual Rangers won’t follow this pattern to start their season. The good news is it went the Rangers way against the Sabres last night.

Once again the game started out slow for the Rangers as they were once again outplayed over the first few minutes allowing…

Rangers Lose Traverse City Opener + Other Updates

Rangers Lose Traverse City Opener + Other Updates

Last night, the Rangers opened the hockey season against Dallas in Traverse City. They had a 3-1 lead heading into the third period…and lost 4-3 in overtime after going 1-for-8 on the power play throughout the game. Good to know some things don’t change from season to season.

Wait…that wasn’t the actual Rangers? That was the rookies? Great, they’ll fit right in!

In all seriousness, the first game…

Rangers Make It Official, Add Malone To Roster

Rangers Make It Official, Add Malone To Roster

Remember when I said I wouldn’t be surprised if the Rangers gave Ryan Malone a camp tryout? Yeah, I was thinking logically about this and forgot the Rangers don’t always do that. Because instead of a tryout, they did this:

As expected, #NYR have signed Ryan Malone….Believed 2-way deal, $700,000 NHL

— Larry Brooks (@NYP_Brooksie) September 11, 2014

The fact that it’s a two-way deal tells me he…

Last Rangers RFA Signed As John Moore Signs QO

Last Rangers RFA Signed As John Moore Signs QO

Did I say earlier that John Moore still wasn’t signed? I knew if I wrote a post about nothing going on that something would happen.

It appears the Rangers last RFA is officially signed as Larry Brooks of the New York Post tweeted the following:

#NYR J. Moore’s contract is 1-year, $850,500, his QO. Will be eligible for arbitration next summer.

Rangers New + Notes: We’re Getting Closer!

Rangers New + Notes: We’re Getting Closer!

There really isn’t any new news to report around the Rangers. John Moore still isn’t signed, Marc Staal doesn’t have a new extension yet either (although apparently there have been talks on that end finally), the entire team is skating in informal skates, and Derek Stepan survivedthe first scare of the season. (Note to Stepan: I didn’t need that scare in September. Please don’t do something like…

Rangers Add New Face At Skates This Week

Rangers Add New Face At Skates This Week

With roughly a week to go before training camp starts, it’s safe to assume most if not all of the team will be seen at the training facility this week. As you have probably seen by now, defensemen Ryan McDonagh and John Moore (yes, the one who isn’t signed but says negotiations are headed in the right direction) joined the group. I’m assuming since McDonagh was there that Derek Stepan was as well…

Where Rangers Stand As Calendar Turns To September

Where Rangers Stand As Calendar Turns To September

Congrats Rangers fans! You’ve done it. You’ve made it through probably the worst summer in quite some time. While some of us still have nightmares about those games in June (or have the post game still on their DVR but have yet to watch it), many of you are ready to move on. And that’s good as it’s finally September meaning hockey is just around the corner.

So what do you need to know to prepare…

Rangers + Wolf Pack News As Season Gets Closer

The NHL season is almost here! How do I know? Well besides the fact the calendar is about to change to September, we are getting tweets like this:

Two months after Cup Final end, am here at MSG Training Center watching ten #NYR skate informally. .training camp about 3 weeks away

— Jim Cerny (@JimCerny) August 27, 2014

The players are back in New York! Well not all of them but they are starting to…

Rangers Looking At Another Ex-Lightning Player?

Rangers Looking At Another Ex-Lightning Player?

Over the past decade, the joke among Rangers fans has been the team only trades with two teams (first it was the Coyotes, then the Blue Jackets…they like to keep it in the family). That said, the number of members of the Tampa Bay Lightning that have been in the organization is probably more than people realize. Part of that of course was due to John Tortorella being coach. While players say he…
